Of course, these funny movies would be nothing without the beautiful funny female actresses that appear in them.
Why not take a peek at these – the 20 funny female actress in Hollywood. We think you might just enjoy some of these films, and the beautiful starlets behind them!
1 – Jennifer Lawrence
She’s an award winning actress with a beautiful smile and a real down to earth nature and to be honest, that’s why half of the world has fallen in love with this funny female actress. Of course, her roles in some of the best movies in our generation has helped too with amazing hits like Silver Linings Playbook behind her.
Although not well known for her comedy parts in films, she is well known to be one of the funniest actress around, and in interviews she always seems to be putting her foot in her mouth and making jokes, even as far as making them at the expense of her co-workers!
2 – Anna Faris
This funny female actress is well known for her American comedy movies and seems to play the part of the dim-witted yet endearing and confident roles. She just seems to play that ditzy blonde oh so well, doesn’t she?
There have been a string of hits behind her so far. There was the 2009 movie Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, her role in the the Scary Movie films as Cindy Campbell, the 2008 The House Bunny, and even the 2005 Waiting…
3 – Amy Poehler
It was the 2004 movie Mean Girls that most of us remember Massachusetts-born Amy from but she is well known as being a great comedy actress, especially with roles in movies such as the 2007 Blades of Glory, and 2013’s Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues!
4 – Melissa McCarthy
She may have started out as a comedienne but she has certainly made a name for herself as a funny female actress! Perhaps better known for her humorous TV roles than her movie ones, she’s just one of the big names in the hit show Mike & Molly, but that’s not to say you can’t bring her comedy movies into the discussion – she was The Hangover Part III in 2013, and that funny movie again – Bridesmaids, back in 2011.
5 – Kristen Wiig
This girl has us all reduced to tears with her great rendition as the bride-to-be’s best friend in the massively funny 2011 hit Bridesmaids. It was reported to be the female’s version of the Hangover series of movies and it didn’t disappoint!
Of course, that’s not all this funny actress is known for – she can also be spotted in the second Anchorman movie, and you’ll also spot in the great British 2011 alien film Paul. If you’ve not seen the latter, you really should. Sci-fi fan or not, it’ll have you in stitches with laughter.
6 – Leslie Mann
The first time we spotted this beautiful funny actress was in the amazing Adam Sandler film Big Daddy in which she plays the Hooters-girlfriend of Sandler’s best friend. She was also spotted in The 40 Year Old Virgin (another comedy favourite), Knocked Up, This is 40 and much more besides.
Such a fan of humour, she actually married Judd Apatow, a director, producer, writer, actor and comedian that is well known for his comedy movies, many of which Leslie Mann has actually starred in!
7 – Rebel Wilson
The reason we love this chick is because she is so down to earth and with a thousands and one meme’s doing the rounds on Pinterest, it doesn’t appear as if the comedy factor behind this plus-size actress is going anywhere at any point soon. In Pitch Perfect, she played the part of Fat Amy which we simply adored, and you can also spot her in Bridesmaids! Of course, not just an actress but a comedian as well, and Variety even stated she was one of the ‘Top Ten Comics to Watch Out for in 2011’!
8 – Maya Rudolph
We know we’ve talked about the film a lot so far but Maya Rudolph is just another one of the great funny female actresses that made up the brilliant case of Bridesmaids, and that one scene depicting her literally emptying her bowels in the middle of a busy stress whilst wearing a wedding dress (that she hadn’t yet paid for) had us all reduced to tears.
Pooping herself in public aside, she’s also well known in funny TV terms, being a long-term part of SNL for ten years!
9 – Cameron Diaz
This Hollywood hottie is on the top of most lists when it comes to Tinseltown and let’s face it, as well as being beautiful and the highest paid actress over the age of 40 in 2013, she’s also a big hit in the comedy genre with a number of funny movies behind her. Who could possibly forget about that 1998 hit There’s Something About Mary? Or the 2011 movie Bad Teacher which we personally rip-roared with laughter at! They are definite must-see’s!
10 – Emma Stone
Wow, where do we start with this girl? She’s the girl next door, isn’t she? She plays funny parts in movies that most girls around the world can related to, and the movie Easy A was a prime example of this. Of course, you can’t forget about the rom-com Crazy, Stupid, Love, or the brilliant Friends With Benefits. One thing is for sure, she’s just as funny as she is a talented actress!
11 – Jaime Pressly
Most of us remember this blonde bombshell from the hilarious TV show My Name is Earl, but she has managed to fit in quite a number of comedy movies despite the fact she spent 11 years training to be a gymnast!
There was the 2009 movie I Love You, Man with the hilarious duo Paul Rudd and Jason Segal, plus the brilliant Not Another Teen Movie which came out in 2011. We think she’s earned the title – funny female actress, don’t you?
12 – Isla Fisher
We first saw this little beauty in the Australian TV show Home and Away but since then, Oman-born (but moved to Australia in her younger years) funny actress Isla has had her fill of super funny parts in movies. In fact, one of the most memorable of her performances has got to be the brilliant 2005 hit Wedding Crashers which saw her alongside Vince Vaughan and Owen Wilson.
13 – Drew Barrymore
This is one actress that has never been one to shy away from funny roles and let’s face it, when you look at the history of her films, you can see there have been more than plenty! Alongside more serious roles in films such as the 2001 Donnie Darko, there are also a vast number of more light-hearted ones and among our favourites here at Herinterest, we would recommend the 2000 kick-ass Charlie’s Angels, the 2004 hit with Adam Sandler, 50 First Dates, the 2009 He’s Just Not That into You, and even the 2001 Freddy Got Fingered!
14 – Meryl Streep
A slightly older actress than most on the list and we come to Hollywood great Meryl Streep who, let’s face it, isn’t one to shy away from any kind of movie, let alone a comedy one. She’s had a string of hits over the years, some more serious than others, but it’s her funny-factor that we love about her the most, especially when she plays that evil (yet brilliantly funny) role of Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada.
15 – Julia Roberts
We love Julia Roberts and would happily class her as one of our favourite funny female actresses in Hollywood! You can hardly deny her this title either with a vast number of hilarious movies behind her. There was the 1999 romantic comedy Notting Hill plus the devilishly brilliant 1990 hit Pretty Woman with the delectable Richard Gere. Add on to that list movies like Runaway Bride, The Mexican and Mona Lisa Smile and you are most definitely on to a winner!
16 – Tina Fey
As well as ring a writer for the hit TV show Saturday Night Live, she’s one of the funniest actresses of our generation and you’ll see examples of this in movies such as the 2004 movie Mean Girls, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues in 2013, and even in a few TV shows such as The Simpsons, 30 Rock and much more besides!
17 – Sandra Bullock
Beautiful, classy and elegant but somehow, Sandra Bullock manages to combine all of this with a kind of awkward charm and wit that works so well in the films she has roles in. As well as managing to star brilliantly in serious film such as the recent hit Gravity, she’s also a great comedy actress with some hilarious movies under her belt.
The Proposal and Miss Congeniality were perhaps two of the best funny films you can spot her in and, there was also Heat too!
18 – Jane Lynch
We all know this funny actress from Glee but she’s made a bit of a name for herself in the movie world too, just in case you weren’t a fan of the very musical TV show. Perhaps one of the funniest movies we’ve spotted this actress in has got to be the 2008 Role Models with Paul Rudd and Sean William Scott. There was also The 40 Year Old Virgin, and Wreck-It Ralph too!
19 – Ellen DeGeneres
She’s an Emmy-winning talk show host but that’s not all she’s about. She could be classed as one of the funniest women in TV and film of our generation!
Although she is perhaps better known for her talk-show hosting than she is for her acting, there are more than a few funny roles behind her and just one of the best ones (we think) has got to be her role as the voice of Dory in the amazingly brilliant animated kids (but for adults too) movie Finding Nemo back in 2003.
20 – Sarah Silverman
Known for playing the part of Vanellope in the 2013 film Wreck-It Ralph, she’s a relatively new (ish) name to comedy, but one that seems to be standing firm nevertheless. You may have spotted her in the 2003 film with Jack Black called School of Rock, and she also starred alongside Cameron Diaz (another actress on this funny list) in the brilliant 1998 hit There’s Something About Mary. And let’s face it, we all remember the standing-up hair scene in that film!
Despite being one of the funniest actresses in Hollywood these days, she actually has a film coming out in 2015 that doesn’t follow the same genre. In fact, it’s a drama which will show us a very different side of her…. Something we are all eagerly awaiting! If you want to check it out, keep your eyes peeled for I Smile Back!
So there you have them – the 20 funny female actresses in Hollywood right now. Well, the ones that we think are funny anyway! 😉
