Why Does My Boyfriend Ignore Me?

By on November 18, 2015

You and your boyfriend usually talk all day every day. He’s quick to text back and it seems like the two of you can’t get enough of each other and the convo is NEVER dull. But now all of the sudden he is as quiet as a bunny. What gives? There’s LOTS of different reason why your boyfriend is ignoring me, and we’ve come up with the TOP 15 reasons- all of which include the good, the bad, and the ugly.

1. He’s Busy
Unless he is constantly ignoring you day after day, it may just be that he is BUSY. As women we tend to over-think everything to death (at least I know that’s true for me!), but the fact of the matter is, people get busy and don’t always have time to respond to texts or instant messages. So if it’s only every once in awhile, I wouldn’t sweat it too much. However, if it’s becoming an every day, all day occurrence, you may want to keep reading about the other reasons he may be ignoring you!

2. He’s Stressed Out
Maybe he’s starting a new position at work or has a lot of homework piling up from school. Maybe there’s some sort of stressful situation going on with his family or even within himself. Have you ever been super stressed out? Most of the time you simply don’t feel like talking, and that may be happening with him. If you know of any stressful situations that may have risen in his life, cut him a break. Tell him you’re there for him to help him or if he needs to vent, but the stress will pass with time and he’ll be back to responding quickly in no time.

3. He’s Immature
Immature guys don’t think it’s a big deal to ignore their girlfriend. They’re probably hanging out with their guy pals or playing a silly video game for hours on end. Either way, immaturity could play a role in his ignoring ways. Think about it: are you with an immature guy?

4. You’re Always Around
Let’s say the two of you live together, you see each other every day, or you at least hang out way more often than the average couple. It could be as simple as you’re always around and when the two of you are finally apart, he finally finds time to miss you. Remember girls- it’s important to let your guy miss you! It only makes them want you more. So if you’re constantly around, he probably doesn’t feel the need to converse with you 24/7, every second of the day.

5. He’s Hurt
Who said guys can’t get their feelings hurt? They might not show it in the same way a woman would, but they definitely feel it. And that could mean he doesn’t feel like talking to you. Think about if the two of you have had a bad fight recently or if you’ve said something hurtful. If that’s the case, I suggest apologizing to him immediately so the two of you can get back on track.

6. He Needs a Break From You
Okay, let’s just be honest here: sometimes we need a BREAK from someone, no matter how much we care about them. It doesn’t mean he doesn’t love you anymore and wants to breakup with you. It simply means he needs a little break from you. It won’t last long- if it does, then you may have a problem on your hands. But a break and a little distance in any relationship is a GOOD thing.

7. He’s Overwhelmed
This kind of goes hand in hand with number 2, but it may that he is just simply overwhelmed with everything going on. Maybe he’s taking on a big workload or has a lot going on at school, and adding the stress of having to talk to his girlfriend 24/7 is just too much for him. Give him some space so he can breathe and get done what he needs to get done. Don’t nag or whine or complain or be an added stressor in his life. Just let him know you’re there for him if he needs it, and you’re hands are always ready for a relaxing massage!

8. He’s Avoiding Something
Okay, so maybe recently you’ve brought up something BIG. Maybe you’re trying to find out when he wants to get married, or you’ve asked him a question he doesn’t want to answer. Maybe you’ve given him the good old “We need to talk” text and he doesn’t want to know what you need to talk about. Either way. there could be something he is trying to avoid. And by ignoring you, he doesn’t have to answer the tough question or talk about something he doesn’t want to talk about. Think about it- is there anything your boyfriend is trying to avoid? This could be the reason why he is opting to ignore you!

9. He Doesn’t Want to Argue
Instead of going back and forth with you for four hours about what the problem is and who’s right and who’s wrong, he may just decide to go silent. And hey, sometimes that’s a good thing, as a bad argument can lead to messy breakups or words you don’t REALLY mean being spoken.

10. You’re Annoying Him
Hate to break it to you, but people- no matter how much they like you- can get annoyed with you. Maybe you’re talking about a really annoying subject or you’re nagging him to death about everything and anything. Are you just simply being downright annoying? Then really, who could blame him for ignoring you!

11. He’s Playing Head Games
This is a sad one, but maybe he’s playing head games with you. We all know those guys who will be all over you one day, only to ignore you the next. They’re JERKS and you don’t need that kind of guy in your life anyways!

12. He’s Not in the Mood to Chat
Are you ever just NOT in the mood to chat? Yeah, that can happen to your boyfriend too.

13. He’s Looking for Something More Casual
It may be that he’s getting a little bit of cold feet with your relationship. Maybe he is looking for something a little more casual, where he doesn’t have to talk to his girlfriend or be locked down to one woman all day every day. If this is the case, the two of you need to have a serious discussion about where your relationship is going.

14. He’s Lost Interest
Sad but true, your boyfriend may have lost interest. And why would anyone continue chatting until the sun goes down with someone they’re not into anymore?

15. He’s Talking to Someone Else
I hate to say it, but one of the reasons your boyfriend may be ignoring YOU is because he is talking to someone ELSE. If this is the case, I hope he comes clean about it to you sooner than later. It will be heartbreaking, but at least you’ll know why he went from talking all day to barely saying a word.

Have you ever been ignored by your boyfriend? What was the reason?

My this guy asked me out and I said yes, the first week of our relationship was great until he was suspended from school for about two weeks. For the first week he came to see me at the bus stop and we talked quite good and he said he misses me… At school wen he came back he walks just past me to go to his friends, his friends asked y is he doing that to me he just said I can’t be wit him all the time. There r times he walks past me and avoids eye contact and people have been telling me he was cheating and found out it was true, so whenever see him I ignore him and we haven’t talked again since then and I have a crush on this other guy who has been giving me lotz of eye contact and thinks he likes me, and what if he asks me out… Coz haven’t offically broken up wit my bf, we just ignore each other.

If you and your boyfriend are ignoring each other right now, then go ahead and break up with him. Since he started all this, I would not feel too bad about breaking up with him via text or online. Afterward, you can go ahead and go after your new crush. If your current boyfriend was not mature enough to just break up with you or tell you whatever problem he was having in the relationship, then it is not your fault. Officially end things with him and move on in life. There are plenty of other guys who will appreciate you, and there is no reason to stay tied to your soon to be ex-boyfriend.
