7 Games to Play Over Text With a Guy

By on December 26, 2014

When you’re bored and don’t want to have a typical texting conversation, there’s only one thing to do: play a game over text messages! Yeah, that’s right. Giggle and laugh and have a blast with these 7 awesome games to play over text with a guy!

text games

1. 20 Questions

We’ve known this game since we were little. We played it with our brother during long car rides and played it with all our gal pals during a slumber party in fifth grade. It’s 20 Questions. And it’s a classic! Not to mention it takes up a good chunk of time and will keep you and your guy interested for at least 5, 10, if not 15 minutes. Don’t make it too hard on him though, alright?

2. I Spy

Here’s another classic game that you’ve undoubtedly played AT LEAST one hundred times, and it’s always a big hit. Everybody loves I Spy! But you’re probably wondering: how do you play I Spy over text messages? By sending pictures, of course! Send this guy a text message and give him hints on what he is supposed to find. Seriously, this game is tons of fun and who doesn’t love to get pictures in their text messaging inbox?

 3. Would You Rather?

If there’s one hilarious game we all love playing with our friends, it’s Would You Rather? I mean, you can make up some REALLY crazy and funny circumstances to have your friends choose between. If you haven’t played before, it’s really easy. Just come up with two different things for them to choose: would you rather eat peanut butter off a bus bench or lick a lollipop you found in the trash can? Just silly random things like that!

 4. Guess the Character

This one is a lot of fun for a couple different reasons, the main one being that you get to impersonate somebody else for a few minutes! Send this guy some lines from a character, and he will guess who you’re impersonating. It could be a celebrity, a basketball player, even a mutual friend of the two of you!

5. Build a Story

Ok. This game is seriously SO much fun and the outcome is always hysterical. To play this game, all you need to do is send each other one word text messages that forms a story. For example:

You: The

Him: banana

You: Fell

Him: Onto

You: Your

Him: Mother

And so on and so forth. You can come up with some hilarious scenarious that will have you rolling on the floor laughing!

6. Guess the Abbreviation

I think there’s a new abbreviation in the texting world every single day, and you can’t tell me there’s been a time or two where you had to look up the latest words like “YOLO” or “WYD”. For this game, you get to come up with your own abbreviations! For example: he asks you what you’re doing. You respond with “WTD” (walking the dog). He will have to guess what the “WTD” stands for. You might need to give him a few hints, this one can be pretty hard!

 7. Silly Pictures

Okay, so this one is really silly and totally juvenile- but hey, it’s fun! Most phones nowadays are connected to the internet in one way or another. That being said, find the funniest pictures you can find on the internet and send them to your partner. They’ll get a good laugh and you can continue sending silly pictures back and forth with each other for hours! Maybe you could select a specific category to make it a little more challenging?

If you have an interest in developing a relationship with this person and you think that he shares your feelings, then speak with him directly and honestly about your goals with your relationship. It would be wise to speak with him and answer his questions fully, so there is no misunderstanding of your meaning on his part. Be happy as you move forward and tell your friends that you want their help to make your relationship strong.

Hi web admin, about a week ago my new boyfriend took me to his family restaurant – long story short, the food was AWFUL!! I could barely stomach it. I really like this guy – is there any way to say “hey I like you, but your family’s cuisine sucks?” by the way our families are not from the same cultures. Thanks.

Instead of believing that their food is awful and making it an attack on their culture, perhaps it would be wise to take this time to practice eating their food. See if there are other dishes that can be made in that style that you may like more. Overtime, you will become acclimated to the spices and oils that are used and you may find that you like the food. If nothing else, remember that there is no reason to cause harm by telling anyone that their food ‘sucks’.

Hey there!I have another game suggestion but I’m not sure how well this will work via text or email- guess that snack? Where you maybe send pictures of the ingredients of the snack and they have to guess what the snack is? I suppose this works better in person- only difference is the can’t see the snack in person, they have to eat it and take a guess. Do you think this is worth a shot or should I stick with doing it in person?

That sounds like an enjoyable game to play with people who eat snacks a lot. You can do the same with different types of equipment parts as well. If the two people are interested in electronics, for example, they could shares spare parts to see if the other knows what it is. I like your idea and it is clear that there are many styles to play. Play it with your friends and let us know how it goes!

I am glad that this website could help you! Being in a long distance relationship is never easy, but the success rate is actually the same as a “normal” relationship. Before we married, my husband and I actually were living in different countries for a year of our relationship. It wasn’t easy–and you have to be able to avoid feelings like jealousy or a miscommunication–, but it is entirely doable. Good luck, Molly!

I am not sure what would work best. Perhaps you could do the 20 questions game, or you could do the one texting game where you make a story, but each person can only add one word or sentence at a time, so it ends up making an incredibly interesting story. You could also just use some of the ideas that are included in this article. Good luck, Aisha!

It looks like you may have commented twice on this. If you comment and it does not appear right away, do not worry because it will. I have to approve of each comment individually, so it can sometimes take a little bit for me to get around to all of them. Let me know if you have any other questions and thanks for commenting!

There are several different texting ideas in the article and in the comments that you can do. If you really want to know if he likes you, ask him out and see what the answer is. At the very least, you will learn that you are wasting your time–and at the most, you will end up with your crush. Good luck, Natasha!

Okay. I am really excited i got a reply from you, uhm so i got to hear the mean things two of my friends said about me. My question is should i talk to them about it, ignore them or just pretend and act normal like i never heard anything??

What exactly did they say about you? Talking to them about it could end up just causing problems, but you may not want to remain friends with people who deliberately talk behind your back. I guess my answer would be, if you want to stay friends with them and they did not say anything terribly bad, talk to them about it. If they said something that was completely unforgivable or you are willing to no longer be friends with them, ignore it and find new friends.

    How did you get friends

If you want to have friends, you just have to start talking to people! Many people make friends at school, work or through a sports team. If you do not have any friends at these locations, you can always try picking up a hobby or volunteering with other people. To get friends, you need to make sure that you are in a location where you will actually be around new people that could be potential friends. Don’t worry–it will happen. Making friends just takes time.
