What Does It Mean When You Dream About Someone Who Is Already Dead?
Dreams can have many different meanings to different people, each dream interpreted slightly differently from the way before, dictated by the setting, scenario, or events that happen during the course of it. Dreams are believed to be the mind’s way of communicating with you — telling you things or reminding you of certain places/people/situations that you might not have otherwise remembered.
A very common dream to have is one where a dead friend, relative, or associate pops up. Dreaming of someone who is already dead could, of course, just be a sign that you were thinking of or missing that person. It is very common to dream of someone who has recently passed away, and although this might be of some comfort to you, it might strike the question:
What does it mean when you dream about someone who is already dead?
As well as being a very obvious sign that you miss the person who has died and commonly occurring in the time period immediately following the passing, dreaming of that person is also thought to be a message, of sorts, from beyond the grave. For many years there have been links and theories that the dream world and spirit world could be connected, and if this were to be true, dreaming could be a way for that spirit — the spirit of the dead person — to communicate with you. If it seems that you are being told a message, perhaps to go ahead with someone or even to be wary or cautious of a new adventure you are embarking on, it might just be time to sit back and listen.
Are you rushing into things?
Are you making a poor choice?
Have you thought about it logically and rationally?
In Pagan times, it was traditionally believed that a deceased person communicating advice in a dream was to be listened to and obeyed immediately, any disobedience met by anger from the Gods and the encouragement of bad luck and omens.
Some dream experts believe that dreams of passed relatives in the run-up to a wedding could be interpreted as advice against the coupling.
Dreaming of deceased parents, especially when they are, once again, giving you a warning or advice is thought to be a subconscious sign that trouble is on the horizon and that you should make sure you’re planning for all eventualities, both bad as well as good.
Dreaming of the newly deceased could also be the way that your subconscious tells you that you’re not quite finished with the grieving process. Grief and mourning following the death of a loved one is a process, and it can often be a very lengthy one, particularly if the death was seemingly out-of-the-blue or a shock. In grief-ridden dreams, it is typical to have the same or similar dreams repeatedly, over the course of a few weeks or months. It is also quite common to experience a conflict of some sort, in the dream. This could be seen as a metaphor for how you’re not dealing with your own emotions during the difficult time of your life. Maybe you need to stop bottling your emotions up and actually deal with what you’re feeling. This is very much the case if you are spiralling downwards, feeling lonely, or don’t think you have anywhere to turn. There is always someone that can and will help, and you shouldn’t be afraid to speak out and say that you need comfort or affection.
Finally, there is another dream interpretation that you should bear in mind when looking into the meanings of dreaming about deceased loved ones; it could be a sign that all is at peace, particularly if the dream itself was a pleasant, comforting, or soothing one. Many people worry about what happens to the ‘being’ or ‘soul’ of a person when that person passes on, and a comforting or soothing dalliance in the dream is meant to be a sign that everything is okay and as it should be.
There are often so many different dream interpretations for just one dream-topic alone, which can make it tough to understand what the dream is actually meant to mean or depict. Only you can appreciate the importance of that dream to you, and we hope that you also manage to find comfort following the passing of a loved one.

i had a dream about my father last night, who had passed away over a year ago of unknown causes. we had an abusive relationship that my brain is trying to repress. i remember some man threw him over a fence and tried to kill him in my dream as i screamed, “daddy no!”. in slow motion i ran after him and woke up abruptly. What does this dream mean?

You stated that your father was abusive, and it is likely that your dream is a manifestation of the trauma that you experienced. Something in your life may have reminded you of him. If you have similar dreams in the future, then address him within the dream regarding his purpose.

By dreaming of her death, your subconscious is helping you accept her passing and heal. It is a way of your subconscious mind coming to terms with your loss.

I just dreamt of a friend who had passed away in real life. He came towards me and said hi. I greeted him back and was hurrying on my way to visit a healer across the street just for fun, nobody was injured. I was in a light happy mood, taking off my shoes and walk hopping on the beautiful trimmed grass with cute little flowers, which my 2 other friends (a guy and a girl) were accompanying me. It was at night or early in the morning. It was dark with street lights on. My 2 friends were helping me carrying my shoes voluntarily. So nice. That was when I met this guy friend of mine who had passed in real life. He was on the wheelchair going the other direction when we met (he was not on wheelchair in real life). I then asked him to join us going to the healer’s clinic, which he then followed behind me in his wheelchair. As he did that, he was boasting to me about the big sum of money he had just spent on something. I have never dreamt of him in my life before. What does it mean?

The windfall may be symbolic of achieving something in the afterlife or where you hope he ended up. The fact he was heading in the other way in the dream may be symbolic for the end of his life and heading out of this world.

Thank you for your response, I really appreciate it. Yes, he initially was going the opposite direction from mine, but he followed me in the end, to the healer’s clinic, after I asked him to..

So my grate uncle passed in 1997. I was about 10 maybe order. When he died he left his 4 bedroom house to my grandma. After he died some people got my grandma to sell the house. My grandma had mental problems too. I just had a dream about my uncle tell me that he was going to be the house in my name. He was there like he was still alive. I dreamed of him like i was i. A different time zone. He trying to tell me to get the house back.

Perhaps the house is metaphoric for your heritage, family history or something else. The dream could also mean something as simple as you regret the fact that your grandmother lost the family home and there was nothing you could do about it.

I’ve just woken from a really confusing dream. The first one was where my 3 year old daughter had cancer and was dying. She was unconscious and regained consciousness. My husband wasn’t with me and we were trying desperately to FaceTime with him so he could hear her voice one last time. My phone bill wasn’t paid, my phone wouldn’t work. We faced obstacle after obstacle.
At the same time I was dreaming my grandmother was dying (she has already passed away about 4 years ago). In the dream She was unconscious too and woke to tell me how proud of me she was and how much she loves me. I was crying and kept telling her how much I love her and miss her.
I’ve since woken from my dreams, the one about my daughter has confused me but the one involving my grandmother has made me terribly sad as I miss her terribly everyday.

Interesting….. I should probably have mentioned I feel as though my daughter and grandmother are connected. The day my grandmother passed away was the same day I found out I was pregnant with her. My grandmother was very unwell for weeks and we had been begging her to let go and find peace. The morning of the day she passed I took a pregnancy test and went straight into her crying and whispered I know what you’ve done. She died 2 hours later.

I had a dream last night about my father who passed away in November 2016 . The dream was about him emailing us from his heaven saying everything is okay and he is okay. In the dream I wanted to know more about how he died. What cause him to die. In reality he died in his sleep but me and my family don’t know from what . I still need answers. All my dreams are about my dad talking from the grave saying it’s okay.

I had a dream of my friend who had passed, first dream was he wasn’t talking to me. His face was not happy when he saw me. Second dream was he’s not again happy to see me. He even said bad stuff against me talking to another person. What does that mean? We didn’t even had misunderstandings, ever, even before he passed.

The statements of the person in your dream are not manifestations of his feelings for you. These negative words may be indications of concerns or worries that you may have in your life. Allow the negative aspects of this dream to fade. Share your kindness and compassion with everyone in your life, as this will honor the memory of your late friend. If you have similar dreams in the future, then address your concerns with him within the dream.

The dream means you miss him. YOu may also wish that you could talk to him just once more so that you could tell him how you feel, so your subconscious mind gave you dreams of him as a chance of working through those emotions.

My sister passed away on the 20th. She was only 43. She had many sickness she dealt with. We didn’t get along a lot growing up and through adulthood. I struggle with an addiction and she always told me that she just wanted her sister back. Our last full conversation was a two hour cry session about how I needed to get my life together. Our grandmother passed away two months ago, and she just gave up hope. I called her three days before passing. And spoke for three minutes. My dreams are always her. Nothing else. I can’t sleep at night. In the dreams she always saying “Sandy help me up. Come on sandy help me up.” I don’t know what to do, or what that could mean.

The dream may reflect the fact that you miss her as well as your conflicting feelings. You feel that you let your grandmother and sister down in some way because of your struggle with addiction. It sounds like your sister and grandmother weren’t angry at you when they died, and they never stopped loving you. They just wanted you to be happy and free of your addiction. If there is anything you should take away from your dream, it is that now is the time when you can work on staying clean in their memory and to fulfill their dreams for your life.

His loneliness may be a manifestation of your thoughts regarding death. You will honor his memory by sharing your kindness and compassion at all times. If you are aware of someone in your life who is in a similar state, then you may want to share your positive energy with them.

My nan has dementia and is in a home. My grandad passed years back. In my dream I went to their house. But grandad was sitting in the chair ? Nanny was naked round the corner, saying I’ll get rid of these clothes I dont need them anymore now. I felt awkward as nan was naked. Grandad gave me a nod and I went back outside. But my van had vanished.

The presence of your grandparents in this dream is a reflection of your knowledge of their lives. You will honor the memory of your grandfather by sharing your kindness and compassion with everyone in your life. If you feel comfortable doing so, then you may want to spend additional time with your grandmother in person. If this is emotionally difficult, then take whatever action that you feel is appropriate.

I saw my brothers dead friend in my dream. We werent close. I barely talked to him when he was alive. Dream goes like I was driving a car and they were sitting beside me. Suddenly the clutch broke, the car stopped, my brothers dead friend fixed the clutch then suddenly there’s a lot of people walking towards us. I knew some they were my classmates in highschool but it seems like they didnt recognize me. But there’s this person, A guy, who glances at me. In my dream it feels like, I knew him but in real life I never saw him. Then the car was fixed we continued are journey still I was driving. Then suddenly I was drifted apart with my brother and his dead friend. They followed a different path. The stirring wheel i was holding a while ago becomes meat. And as i walk i met my uncle and other teachers who teaches in a school were i graduated in highschool. Still they didnt notice me.

The dream shows that you miss your friend. The fact that you actually realize he has passed on in your dream seems to indicate that you are coming to terms with his death, and your subconscious mind is starting to recognize that he has passed on.
