What Does It Mean When You Dream About Someone Who Is Already Dead?
Dreams can have many different meanings to different people, each dream interpreted slightly differently from the way before, dictated by the setting, scenario, or events that happen during the course of it. Dreams are believed to be the mind’s way of communicating with you — telling you things or reminding you of certain places/people/situations that you might not have otherwise remembered.
A very common dream to have is one where a dead friend, relative, or associate pops up. Dreaming of someone who is already dead could, of course, just be a sign that you were thinking of or missing that person. It is very common to dream of someone who has recently passed away, and although this might be of some comfort to you, it might strike the question:
What does it mean when you dream about someone who is already dead?
As well as being a very obvious sign that you miss the person who has died and commonly occurring in the time period immediately following the passing, dreaming of that person is also thought to be a message, of sorts, from beyond the grave. For many years there have been links and theories that the dream world and spirit world could be connected, and if this were to be true, dreaming could be a way for that spirit — the spirit of the dead person — to communicate with you. If it seems that you are being told a message, perhaps to go ahead with someone or even to be wary or cautious of a new adventure you are embarking on, it might just be time to sit back and listen.
Are you rushing into things?
Are you making a poor choice?
Have you thought about it logically and rationally?
In Pagan times, it was traditionally believed that a deceased person communicating advice in a dream was to be listened to and obeyed immediately, any disobedience met by anger from the Gods and the encouragement of bad luck and omens.
Some dream experts believe that dreams of passed relatives in the run-up to a wedding could be interpreted as advice against the coupling.
Dreaming of deceased parents, especially when they are, once again, giving you a warning or advice is thought to be a subconscious sign that trouble is on the horizon and that you should make sure you’re planning for all eventualities, both bad as well as good.
Dreaming of the newly deceased could also be the way that your subconscious tells you that you’re not quite finished with the grieving process. Grief and mourning following the death of a loved one is a process, and it can often be a very lengthy one, particularly if the death was seemingly out-of-the-blue or a shock. In grief-ridden dreams, it is typical to have the same or similar dreams repeatedly, over the course of a few weeks or months. It is also quite common to experience a conflict of some sort, in the dream. This could be seen as a metaphor for how you’re not dealing with your own emotions during the difficult time of your life. Maybe you need to stop bottling your emotions up and actually deal with what you’re feeling. This is very much the case if you are spiralling downwards, feeling lonely, or don’t think you have anywhere to turn. There is always someone that can and will help, and you shouldn’t be afraid to speak out and say that you need comfort or affection.
Finally, there is another dream interpretation that you should bear in mind when looking into the meanings of dreaming about deceased loved ones; it could be a sign that all is at peace, particularly if the dream itself was a pleasant, comforting, or soothing one. Many people worry about what happens to the ‘being’ or ‘soul’ of a person when that person passes on, and a comforting or soothing dalliance in the dream is meant to be a sign that everything is okay and as it should be.
There are often so many different dream interpretations for just one dream-topic alone, which can make it tough to understand what the dream is actually meant to mean or depict. Only you can appreciate the importance of that dream to you, and we hope that you also manage to find comfort following the passing of a loved one.

Losing a loved one can be an incredibly traumatic experience, so it only makes sense that it would leave a deep mark on the human psyche. unfortunately, this mark is the main reason why the dream keeps re-occurring over and over again. With time, it should hopefully become less painful to go through these dreams.

I dreamed about my great-grandmother. I was helping her to cross the road and walked her to the bus. What does it mean? She passed away a few years ago.

The dream may mean you miss being around your great-grandmother, and you wish that she could be in your life again. You may also wish that you could just enjoy doing all of the simple things with her like taking a walk, talking or getting to help her cross the road.

The dream probably occurred because your subconscious mind wants to know what happened with your friend. Because of this, your subconscious may have sent this dream as a reminder message in order to tell you that you need to do something. Other than checking in with the detectives in charge of the case, I don’t know if there is anything you can do. Hopefully, his case will eventually get solved. Good luck!

The dreams reflect your desire to see your friend again and to enjoy being close to her. These are normal feelings to have after you lose someone you were closed to, so these kinds of dreams can happen for months or years afterward. The friend may be gone from your current life, but that doesn’t mean they are gone from your heart and memory.

Hello,
It’s so bizarre, I keep having a reoccurring dream of a friend I went to school with. So we were in the same class from ages 12 to 16. We were close enough but not super close friends. He was very silly and we shared that trait and found one another to be funny. Sadly in 2005 he committed suicide. He would have been 17 as I at the time. I am 32 now and for the last 14 years every so often (few months) I see him in my dreams.
The dream is us having fun and laughing like we used to. Then I realize halfway through the dream he has died and I am always saying sorry, but grateful to be with him again. Its always the same pattern of the story but difference circumstances in the dreams.
Since his death, I have lost many many more in my life, who were even closer to me. But he I see in my dreams. Perhaps when I’m more stressed I’m not sure. But I can’t figure out the message or what this means.

My godmother recently died this year with cancer, I witnessed her sufferings. But just last night I dreamt about her. She’s still suffering a lot. She was in a room( like a dorm type room, with other people and also her son). The house is on like a hidden place. There’s a door inside the room. When I opened it, it’s an ocean. So the place is like a beachfront room but the difference is there’s no sand. When you open the door you could walk on a little space only and the water looks deep already if you fall. It’s really bothering me so please answer.

The dream just shows that you miss your godmother and wish you could be around her. The fact that you still dream about her suffering is only because your last memories were of her suffering. Thankfully, your godmother is beyond suffering now and at peace.

I dreamnt that I was in a dodgy area (where this friend I knew stayed) and I entered a house where he was sitting and he looked at me and asked for 10 bucks for a beer . I told him no are you mad ? Reason is because when in high school he was always the one to ask us for money for a loose cig or whatever he wanted to get . He died by multiple stab wounds when a gang member mistakenly thought he knew him . I haven’t seen him for about 9 or 10 years , he passed away last year and now his popping in my dream I find it weird . Because in the dream I even dreamnt of a unknown man who had a grey machine gun and just started shooting it up in the area , I remember my body freezing and when I woke up it felt like my body was so stiff , it felt like I jumped out of that event , it felt so real I cried .

I keep having dreams of a guy that I went to elementary school with who died a couple years ago in a motorcycle crash. In one, he was trying to keep me from dying, in another we were just at a gathering of friends and we just smiled at each other from across the table. When he was alive, I ran into him by chance here and there more than anyone else from my childhood. From what I remember, he was the only one who was never unkind to me in anyway at school. After I switched schools, I saw him maybe a total of 10 other times so we did not know each other well. He became more of an acquaintance than anything. When he died, though, it hit me so hard. He left behind a wife and young son and 2 week old daughter. And since, I have had 4-5 dreams of him. And I can’t make sense of why him when I didn’t really know him very well anymore.

Hi everyone
Okay my dream is kinda weird? Well I usually have them from time to time anyway, but I’m 49 now and been married for 30 years next month with 3 boys.
Now my dream is about the very first guy that made me felt tingly everytime we met, even after I was married to my husband? The guy was my brother in law’s nephew. Years went on without seeing him and he married one of my workmates years before. In 2000 we moved to Queensland from Victoria and lived here for 1 or 2 years to find out that he was closer to where I lived without both of us knowing it. I was told he drowned close by on a fishing trip. My heart dropped and I couldn’t figure out my feelings?
NOW… I’ve been dreaming about him from time to time but not as friends but as secret lovers? Even though I’m still married why would I dream about him that way? In my dream it’s always forbidden. And in real life when we were kids I think it was forbidden then too. Is he waiting for me because he felt the same way about me?

I had this dream twice where its a very visibly deceased lady(rotting skin, grey tone, maggots and worms crawling ot the face and neck and no hair or teeth or eyes) and she starts off saying “dont touch her” then repeats it and then goes into a seizure repeating the phrase for about 2 and a half minutes and then i wake up in shock/tears. What does it mean? Is it a nightmare?

I had a dream about my mother, who had died from suicide when I was 11 years old. In my dream she had been gone all these years and was dead but I got a message on my phone and it was from my mom and she wanted to meet up with me and see me. Basically she had never really died she just left and was gone for a very long time. And everyone thought that she was dead. I met up with her excited as all could be, and when I saw her she wasn’t the same person I remember her as and I was angry and sad. I woke up crying. This dream keeps happening, why won’t the dream go away? Also, in reality I hold a lot of resentment for my mother and I can’t think of her without feeling pain and anger.
