Chalita Namtan Suansane: The Sweetness Beauty That Captures All Thai People’s Hearts

Originally a 21-year-old student currently studying Microbiology at Mahasarakham University, Chalita “Namtan” Suansane.She was born on December 24, 1994, is a Thai model and beauty pageant titleholder from Samut Prakan. On her big day, 23 July 2016, she won Miss Universe Thailand 2016, a beauty pageant that has been held every year since 2000. The pageant was originally called Miss Thailand Universe. In 2012 name of the pageant was changed to Miss Universe Thailand. In this competition, Chalita “Namtan” Suansane won an online fan vote and advanced into the Final 6.

The beauty queen was born in Nonthaburi, Thailand. Her father originally from Yasothon. Her mother, Chutikan Suansane, who is a half Thai-German came from Nakhon Si Thammarat who’s a King Power’s employee. This super woman she started to help her mother out in earning money. Namtan was studying Microbiology when her sister sent an application for her in the Miss Universe Thailand competition last July 2016. This was Chalita’s first ever beauty pageant. While she was a student, she was often curious and eager to learn new things, including a passion to explore living organisms that you cannot see by the eyes, so that is the reason why she chose to study Microbiology.

Apart from her hard studies, Suansane volunteers at ‘Baan Home Hug’ which is an orphanage that houses children who have inherited HIV from their parents, children who were abused, and children who have lost their family. She said that, if she won the competition, she would like to raise awareness and advocate for HIV/AIDS. Before one of the big beauty pageant started, she wrote on her Facebook post that “Holding the heart of your country, to a competition with 85 lovely ladies around the universe is a tough battle. To be confidently beautiful and make my country proud Is my goal to hopefully be crowned as Miss Universe,” .

When it comes to her bigger moment, Namtan represented Thailand at the Miss Universe 2106 pageant in The Philippines. She was the one who was today named among the top six beauty pageants from all over the world gathering in the Philippines to compete in the Miss Universe 2016 since Porntip Nakhirunkanok in 1988. According to her bio, Chalita wants to be an inspiration for young women everywhere. She wants to represent a good role model to all that “Fulfilling your passions, having respect, and being compassionate to others will make you confidently beautiful in your own way”.

While the competition was going on, Chalita was a lucky 13th contestant to advance. And, she got there due to over a million fans voting to get her through the competition. However, when she was named among the top six beauty pageants from all over the world, she already did her best. In the top six semi-final, she was asked with an interview question by Steve Harvey of which leader in the past or present time she most admired and respected , Namtan answered with tears in her eyes through her translator His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the most beloved King of the Thai people. Furthermore, she said since she was a little child she always saw the beloved King worked very hard without making even a complaint. He is the father of every Thai people in the kingdom. Moreover, she said that if she won the Miss Universe crown, she would raise an awareness and help those people who have HIV and AIDS.

The last three beautiful ladies entering the final were Colombia, France and Haiti. Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines crowned Iris Mittenaere from France as Miss Universe 2016. Miss Haiti was the first runner-up and Miss Colombia finished third. Even Namtan didn’t win the competition, she has already captured the hearts of the online community and became the crowd favorite. During the prestigious competition, Miss Universe 2016, Namtan is a stunner and considered as a strong contender on the Miss Universe pageant’s coronation day.

When she came back from Miss Universe’s competition, she received a warm welcome home from Thai fans and all the public after she made the new history of being in the top six in the Miss Universe pageant in Manila. She said in the press conference that “I thank all Thai people who have supported me and voted for me. I never thought so many people would support me and love me,” “There was not a day without joy. I was never tired. I did my best every day. No matter what the outcome would be, I already did my best.” , and ”I did the best I could. I did not do this for myself but as a representative of Thailand and I am satisfied with what I have done, although, naturally I am a little disappointed.” Miss Chalita said in an interview at the airport.


She also revealed with Thairath online  that one important component of her successful was this “It’s like time proves a person, all I need is time to adapt myself, first time I wouldn’t made it that best but I don’t give up and grab another chance to try and I finally made it. I like to prove myself over those drama stories and show them out, I wanna thanks for all contempt that become the force to make me better in any day. Moreover I have to make it happen and I want everyone to see that I have something to stand out of the 80+ beauty contestants from all over the world.” That’s what all Thai people are proud of her that she finally named among the top six beauty pageants from all over the world and she has already been Miss Universe of all Thai people’s hearts.
